Actually lowercase numbers should be familiar. The font allowed for comments doesn't permit their use, but if you use Georgia font, you can see them, and they are much more common in older books.
While it varies by font, a lowercase 2 is the same as an uppercase. 6 sticks up(called an ascender) and 9 sticks down (a descender)
