New Year Resolutions

It is time for all of you to read about my yearly goals are going to be.

1. Visit New Hampshire this Summer.

2. Straight A's - I've never had a straight "A" semester, and I want one before I leave BYU. That goal will also extend to my first semester at law school.

3. Ogden Marathon - I would like to run it in 3:10, so I can qualify for Boston in 2009. My goal was to qualify for the Boston for this year, but I kind of dropped the ball on that for other priorities.

4. Retain the Scoresby Cup - After winning the Scoresby Scamper, held in Wausau, WI this year, by more than 4 minutes, I doubt I will have to work very much to keep the Cup. Supposedly Ben has made the Cup a type "A" goal. I wont start worrying until I see improvement in the competition.

5. Sunday School Lessons - This is a Four year goal. I intend on reading the Sunday School lesson for every week before I attend church that week. I have never followed the Sunday School Lesson plan in my personal study, yet I consistently think, "man, this class is boring." Maybe, it's because of my lack of study to accompany the class.

6. Sunapee Triathlon - Held in September, I would like to try my hand at this event.

7. Watch less ESPN, but more BYU football. - Am I obsessed with ESPN when watching has become part of my getting ready in the morning ritual? If not, I might be getting pretty close.

8. Read more books. The current books on the to read list include: 1776, Joseph Smith: Rough Stone Rolling, Cien AƱos de Soledad, and Three Cups of Tea.

9. Maintain finances better - My goal is to maintain a budget so I can see where I am spending and where we can make up ground. Money is going to get nice and tight when we go to Law School, so budgeting will be imperative. I found this great website that is great for maintaining and projecting a family budget. www.clearcheckbook.com. If you want to have your checking account to go right to your budget for charts and such, you can also use www.mint.com. Both are excellent and have many security features to protect your idenitity.

10. Write Joanna and Sarah regularly while they are on their missions, and Kevin at least twice. I also intend on sending Birthday cards (or having Emily send cards).

Well, let me know what you guys think. I'm certain there are many more goals for me to add and some that will need to be modified. But I think that they are all very obtainable goals. Have a Wonderful and Happy 2008. God Speed.

I think your goals are WONDERFUL Preston, and I know you can achieve all of them :)

That's quite a list, Preston. But I'm pretty sure the Scoresby cup is yours for the taking, unless someone else suddenly gets ambitious.

those are some great goals, good luck with them! (we may have to establish like a two year limit on the trophy so that it actually gets passed. :P)
