On Thursday night I got to go to Round Table; A meeting where all of the scout leaders get together and get trained by council leaders. The training this last Thursday was for Safe Swim and for Stay Afloat. While I was in the training I kept thinking, "I know all of this stuff." It was because Shawn Elder, my scoutmaster/ brother-in-law, had gone over this information so many times with us, I now just thought it was common sense. For example, unswamping a canoe: do you know how to get all of the water out of a swamped canoe, while still being in water above your neck? How about the different types of PFD's and their advantages and disadvantages? I even had a really cool story of wrecking a canoe going down rapids and how my training and physical preparation aided in keeping myself and my two friends from danger.
Anyways, after all of that training, I am now certified to teach young men about the importance of the Safe Swim and Stay Afloat programs. I will be handing valuable knowledge down to one more generation of scouts!

How about Climb on Safely? That's fun training, and given your location, you're perfectly situated to do it.
